I did this as an exercise in facial expressions body language and consistency. I drew all the figures individually without copying and pasting to try to make it visually interesting. Here's a commercial for the dolls they're playing with. It'll give an idea of the aesthetic I'm trying for here.

I guess the boy equivalent to this would be a Chuck Norris doll complete with Ak-47...

I had GI Joes. They came out in 1962.

God, pages with fixed perspective shots are such a pain, but your choice to use it does a far better job at conveying the girls' mannerisms than what my choices would have been; mostly close ups of their expressions. Suits the dialogue more smoothly as well :-)

Thanks! I'm not entirely happy with it. I want to make the 1957 stuff look old and faded, but not that much. I'll do a page and it looks fine on my monitor but when I post it I see that I really have to work on the contrast and outlines. I'll try to do better next time.

So we’ve finally seen Kay. What were we supposed to tell her again?

correction, we already saw her.

Yes, she was in Kay 3 and the last Christmas comic. She'll be in a few more. If I need another girl I might use the one from that commercial and name her Betsy. :D

Hmmm, I happen to live in Illinois and have never heard of that community. :)

It was a really small town, a bit of a hole really. It was disincorporated years ago because nobody liked the name.

The aesthetic and the humor match perfectly. I can almost hear a tuba go “BWA-bwahhhh” at the end😃!

Something similar happened to me once,.. I asked a guy from Surrey where he came from and I thought he hadn't understood me. It starts getting uncomfortable after you repeat the question more than once!!

nb. "Sorry" is a polite way of asking for the question to be repeated.

Ha! And this wasn't based on a true story for once. It's entirely made up.

XD Illinois has a lot of silly named towns...and mispronounces a lot of their names, too.

I'm originally from Athens, with a long "a," but named after Athens, Greece.

And the town is proud of the mispronunciation o_O It confuses the rest of world, so I just pronounce it right. XD

I assume you've learned how to pronounce "Oregon"?

Uh...I say like the Organ. Like a body part or musical instrument. I'm probably wrong XD

It's better than Caro for Cairo (they say it like the syrup in Illinois. Don't get me started on San Jose pronounced like Joe's o_O)
